It’s hard to combine the classic and modern approach but seemingly I proved this feasible
Developing the website of the Moscow Academic Art School having a history spanning about 100 years. This is another unique and exciting project having a vast and fascinating background. It was very important to mix classic with modern not losing the concept from the sight. In practice, everything turned out even better than I had planned. In case Art School is entered into a line of a search engine the site pops up first.
Watching the video above you can conclude that a unique and perfect result was obtained. The task was a real challenge. It was important to combine a huge number of pages without overloading the site. Yet, despite the challenge the result obtained was brilliant. The site got best credentials from the entire target audience: ranging from school applicants to the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. Convenient and friendly navigation and brevity — it is all you need to make a perfect historical website.
Navigation
A special attention should be paid to site navigation at the development stage. In this case, this was very important, since the site itself is quite cumbersome and without proper structuring a visitor can be easily overwhelmed by abundant information. I managed to set up user-friendly navigation that helped navigating quickly and find the right page and information in a nick of time. Each page should contain carefully worked out elements. For example, the element on the left helps the user to navigate easily and not get stuck.
Typesetting
I paid the maximum attention to the layout at the stage of developing the site concept. I managed to accomplish everything neatly and comfortably without introducing improperly complicated elements. Every picture and the text occupy the place they belong to. Special attention should be paid to the styles and fonts used. The crucial point deals with selecting them in the right order without compromising the classic style to ensure they do not conflict with the rest of the content. The typography and color solution were also carefully developed as they also play an important role in responding to the final design which is meant to have many visitors.
News
The most important in the news section in theme sites like this one. Since this section is meant to continuously grow, it was important not to miss a single detail and find the most elegant structure. The structure should be not only elegant but also logical and easy to grasp for everyone from students to lecturers. I was proud of the logical tile layout used in the news section; it was one of principal achievements in site development. We managed to account for details and develop a convenient subsection logic.

The key challenge dealt with ensuring site adaptability.
The site was developed not only for lecturers but also for students since the latter made up the bulk of the target audience. The modern people are incredibly mobile living in an accelerated rhythm, so it was necessary to develop a fully adaptable site version. The idea was to make the functionality on mobile devices on par with a computer release. I succeeded with making the mobile version as good as the desktop version and got a lot of positive feedback from the site users.
An obvious trend is that the share of people preferring to find information in mobile applications is growing if compared with those sticking with desktop computers. Therefore, the need to make websites responsive is growing every year. Moreover, this trend is visible not only among young people but also in older age groups. The mobile version of the site should be on par with the main one. Occasionally, it requires even more attention at the development stage. Not all designers take this point into account; as a result quite often using the mobile version of the app is cumbersome. I always try to do my best to make the app convenient in use to avoid these situations.
